The Northwest has some beautiful scenery and I think that drifting along in ones boat, with a trusty black lab along for the ride, must be one of the best ways to view it.
Mirror reflections of the river bank can be both mind boggling and fun to paint. Simplifying the foliage on the hillside was a challenge. Yep, these are considered hills in these parts. I think I achieved the feeling of bigness in this piece starting with the boulders that dwarf the boater and continuing up the cliff to the house on the precipice against the small sky.
