This winery is majestic. The building is stucco and tile and reminiscent of European architecture. I chose to portray the building while painting right in the vineyards themselves. This gave the building a castle–in–the–sky appearance. It was the tail end of our fall season and I hurried to paint at King Estate, while the vines were in their glorious color and before the leaves fell off. I wish that the reproduction methods available to me could do the transluscent colors justice.
King Estate Winery is on Territorial Road in Eugene and the long, windy drive in the country would make for a nice romantic trip to the 550 acre estate. Tours are by appointment only.
